What Flowers To Go For

Find a Picture!

Most people would tell you to find out which flower will be in season at the time of your event… whilst these are very wise words, this probably won’t be your initial thought.

I have a lot of people that come to me with a photo of a bouquet they like, and don’t have a clue what flowers are in them, or what ‘foliage’ is. Not meaning to cause offence – I wouldn’t know a tyre from a wheel, or a bob from a pixie cut! The point being that it’s easier for me to get your flowers right if I know what shape, colours, style & textures you tend to prefer. Often I can get flowers from market that aren’t actively growing locally.

Make Scents?

Some flowers give off more of an aroma than others – is this an important detail to you? Or rather is it imperative not to have a bouquet that don’t give out pollen or make you feel overwhelmed?

Flowers on a shoe string

If you a cautious of your budget, don’t be afraid to mention this to your florist. They will be prepared to suggest alternatives to you. Don’t just ask for a quote for one bouquet if you are needing more – sometimes the price can drop if you are ordering in bulk.

Accessorise

Think about trying to make the arrangements reflect your personality – not only by the flowers themselves but perhaps by adding ribbons, pearls, jewels, beads, etc.

When To Book

As with most suppliers, it’s a good idea to arrange your florist as soon as possible.

Dates can be filled up fast; sometimes a year or 2 in advance!

You don’t have to have an exact image in your head of how you want the flowers to be until nearer to the time; but will give you peace of mind.

Many suppliers will ask for a deposit to secure your date, but this can help towards breaking down your costings in the lead up to the event.
